Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

URL to QR is two things with very different privacy stories: a free QR code generator that runs entirely in your browser, and an optional paid dashboard for tracking scans on QR codes you choose to make trackable. This policy covers both.

The free generator

The generator at url-to-qr.com (and its guide pages) collects nothing. Every QR code — URL, Wi-Fi, contact card, email, batch, whatever you style or download — is built entirely in JavaScript running in your own browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, logged, or stored anywhere, because there is no backend for it to go to.

The tracking dashboard (optional paid feature)

If you create an account to track QR code scans, we collect:

  • Account info — your email address, managed by Amazon Cognito.
  • Tracked links — the destination URL, label, and styling options you set for each tracked QR code.
  • Scan/click data — when someone scans a tracked QR code, we record the timestamp, the referring page (if any), and an approximate country derived from network information. We do not collect precise location, and we do not attempt to identify who scanned the code.
  • Billing info — payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we only keep which plan you're on and your Stripe customer reference.

How we use your information

  • To operate your account and the tracking dashboard
  • To redirect scanned QR codes to their destination and show you the resulting analytics
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To send account verification codes, password reset codes, and billing notifications

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described below.

Third-party services

  • Amazon Web Services — hosts the tracking dashboard's backend (authentication, database, and redirect infrastructure).
  • Stripe — handles all payment processing for the paid tier.
  • Umami Analytics — anonymous, cookie-free page-view analytics on the free generator and guide pages. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Email communication

If you create a tracking account, we send account verification codes, password reset codes, and billing notifications from an address on url-to-qr.com. We do not send marketing emails or newsletters.

Data retention

Tracked links and their settings are kept for as long as your account and that link exist. Individual scan records are kept for about 13 months and then automatically deleted; aggregated daily scan counts (which contain no personal information) are kept indefinitely so your historical analytics stay intact. Account data is kept while your account is active.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing admin@url-to-qr.com. If you are located in the EU or UK, you also have the right to access, correct, or port your data — contact us at the same address for any such requests.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of URL to QR after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
